Reflection: Mollie Henry

Closing in on week #5! It's a relief to have a light at the end of the tunnel. Sobering to know others do not. To date our best lessons have been:

a. Community is a lifeline, and God means for us to live in community.
b. Food is a blessing and world of complex, beautiful human creations.
c. After trying to eat nutritiously on $1/meal for almost 5 weeks, I can totally understand someone wanting to blow the budget on Doritos. I will judge less.

Yes, I agree. Lanecia saw that ice cream was on sale. Probably not a wise purchase financially, but the blown budget is completely worth it! 5 weeks with no ice cream in the freezer has been quite a feat for us.

And I just wanted French fries desperately. So we have a bag of potatoes this week. I probably could have baked a few and eaten them with broccoli for a healthier option. But, no, I've made French fries at least 3 times since our potato purchase this week. I just want greasy, artery-clogging, salty fries!! Craziness . . .
